Over the past three years, in cooperation with the Living Lab-Ontario project, Ken Laing of Orchard Hill Farm has tested different combinations of cover crops and vegetable crops to reduce tillage for organic vegetable systems. These trials include deep compost mulch, winter-killed cover crops, and flail mowed and rolled cover crops with various crops. In conversation with Angie Koch, join Ken as he shares his recommended cover crop strategies for reducing tillage for potatoes, garlic, winter and summer squash, and field tomatoes.
